Documentaries awarded at the DOK Leipzig 2009 festival
The 52nd edition of the DOK Leipzig festival presented 330 films from 69 countries, 148 directors from 38 countries came to Leipzig to show their documentaries to the an international audience. Among the winners are EDN member Ton van Zantvoort as well as the team behind Maggie in Wonderland, which was developed at the EDN workshop Twelve for the Future. Congratulations!
The DOK Leipzig festival’s main award is the Golden Dove, which is presented to both a long and short documentary category.
For the ‘Long Metrage’, which means documentaries longer than 45 minutes, a Golden Dove along with € 10,000 was granted to the film
Les arrivants / The Arrivals (France) by Claudine Bories and Patrice Chagnard.
A Silver Dove along with € 3,000 was presented to the film
La casa / The House (Colombia, Spain) by Tayo Cortés.
For ‘Short Metrage’, which means documentarie up to 45 min a Golden Dove along with € 5,000 was presented to the film
Tying Your Own Shoes (Canada) by Shira Avni.
The German Jury for Documentary Film awarded for Documentary Films and Videos a Golden Dove along with € 10,000 to the film
Rich Brother by Insa Onken.
The International Jury for the Young Talent Competition awards for an extraordinary documentary film talent the Talent Dove along with € 10,000 as start-up funding for the next documentary film project to the film
Antoine (Canada) by Laura Bari.
The Jury for the Healthy Workplaces Film Award awarded for the best documentary film about the subject of work the Healthy Workplaces Film Award along with € 8,000 to the film
A Blooming Business (The Netherlands) by Ton van Zantvoort.
The Jury of the Doc Alliance awards for a film from the Doc Alliance Selection the Doc Alliance Award along with € 5 000 to the film
Maggie vaknar på balkongen / Maggie in Wonderland (Sweden) by Mark Hammarberg, Ester Martin Bergsmark and Beatrice Maggie Andersson
The MDR (Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk) awards for an excellent Eastern European documentary film the MDR Film Prize along with € 3 000 to the film Chemia /Chemo (Poland) by Pawel Lozinski.
