The FORUM 2011 pitch training workshop

November 21-23, 2010. Amsterdam, The Netherlands
The FORUM is Europe's largest gathering of filmmakers, TV commissioning editors and independent documentary producers. It is the most important financing event in the documentary industry. EDN will run the pitch training workshop in connection with the FORUM.
The aim of the FORUM is to stimulate co-financing and co-production of new documentaries. This is done by enabling filmmakers and producers to pitch their project in development to the assembled commissioning editors, film funds and other financiers. After the pitch the project teams and financiers follow up through individual meetings.
EDN host and run the pitch training that takes place the day before the project is being pitched. At the workshop producers and directors can refine and practice their pitch as well as get feedback on possible financing and co-production partners. The workshop is managed by the EDN staff and experienced tutors with specific knowledge of the pitching situation and the international documentary market. The EDN tutors also offer the possibility to recieve detailed feedback after the project has been pitched during the three FORUM days.

About the FORUM
Founded in 1993, the FORUM has become the first market for the international co-financing of documentaries in the world. Over the years, the FORUM has expanded and remains to be a unique opportunity to find financing for documentary films: more than 90% of all submitted projects end up being made.
There are different options to pitch documentary projects, depending on the current stage of the production:
Central Pitch: The project is in a development/pre-production phase, production or a rough-cut/post-production phase. Producers and directors pitch their projects to a small group of commissioning editors and other financiers.
Round Table Pitch: Producers and directors pitch their projects to the assembled group of commissioning editors, other financiers, and observers. At least 25% (but not more than 75%) of the financing has to be in place.
the FORUM takes place within the frame of IDFA, the world's biggest documentary festival. Here you can read more about the FORUM.
